2025 Community Webs National Symposium

Community Webs members are invited to join us for the 2025 Symposium at the Friends Center in Philadelphia! The 1.5 day event will feature two workshops: community archiving with Natalie Milbrodt and digital preservation with Danielle Taylor and Jaime Schumacher. The symposium will also include presentations from Community Webs members and a local repository tour. This event is prior to the American Library Association (ALA) Conference.
Registration and Participant Support

Instructor Biographies
Natalie Milbrodt is the University Archivist for City University of New York (CUNY). Before joining CUNY, Milbrodt led Queens Public Library’s Metadata Services division, responsible for the system’s cataloging and digitization efforts. In 2010, Milbrodt developed the Queens Memory Project on behalf of Queens College, CUNY and Queens Public Library. Queens Memory is an award winning community-led, post-custodial archives program collecting oral histories, photographs, and other records of local and personal histories in Queens, New York. Milbrodt graduated from Michigan State University with a BA in Interdisciplinary Humanities and a Specialization in Film Studies. She earned her MLIS and Advanced Certificate in Archives from Queens College, CUNY where she now serves as adjunct faculty. Before joining the library profession, she worked for film production, design, and marketing firms in both creative and management roles. Milbrodt serves on the Oral History Association’s Metadata Working Group and as an advisory board member for New York State Historical Records, Design Dream Lab, and Wikitongues. Her cultural heritage consulting clients include The Frick Collection, The Wildlife Conservation Fund, the Skowhegan History House, UCL Qatar, The Museum of Early Trades and Crafts, Internet Archive, and the Leo Baeck Institute.
Danielle Taylor is the Digital Preservation Librarian at Indiana University Libraries. She is responsible for assessing and meeting the digital preservation needs of various library departments. She plays a lead role in establishing a cohesive digital preservation program, including updating and implementing policies and guidelines. She has over 10 years experience of providing digital preservation training through the Digital POWRR program. She holds a Masters in Library and Information Studies from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and a BA in History from Saint Mary's College (Notre Dame, IN).
Jaime Schumacher is the Sr. Director of Scholarly Communications at Northern Illinois University Libraries. She delivers a program of education, advocacy, support, and technical advancement to promote the effective sharing of and barrier free access to scholarly resources. Her efforts include repository platform development and optimization, copyright and open licensing research, and instructional activities for faculty, students, and lifelong learners. Jaime is also the co-leader of Digital POWRR - a grant-funded, award-winning program that equips practitioners with the necessary skills for curating and preserving digital collections of significance. Jaime earned her BS in Computer Information Systems from Purdue University, her MLIS from the University of Illinois, and was a corporate systems consultant for Deloitte prior to her transition into the field of librarianship.
