Archive-It believes that preserving born-digital, web-published materials for public, open, and scholarly use serves the common good and contributes to the overall mission of universal access to all knowledge.

To support the work of mission-aligned, but financially under-resourced, organizations pursuing this work, and to support volunteer, citizen, and non-institutional efforts to archive web-based materials of critical importance, we created the Archive-It Sponsored program. This program gives organizations complimentary subscriptions to our state-of-the-art suite of web archiving tools, perpetual data storage, and the ability to share their collections publicly via our platform.

In including the vital work of these organizations in our shared mission, we endeavor to break barriers to web archiving and elevate the voices and experiences of diverse communities throughout the world.

Freedom of the Press Foundation

Freedom of the Press Foundation is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to helping support and defend public-interest journalism focused on exposing mismanagement, corruption, and law-breaking in government. They work to preserve and strengthen the rights guaranteed to the press under the First Amendment through crowdfunding, digital security and internet advocacy. Freedom of the Press Foundation is built on the recognition that this kind of transparency journalism — from publishing the Pentagon Papers and exposing Watergate, to uncovering the NSA’s warrantless wiretapping program and CIA secret prisons — doesn’t just happen. It requires dogged work by journalists, and often, the courage of whistleblowers and others who work to ensure that the public actually learns what it has a right to know.

Franklin Furnace

Franklin Furnace’s mission is to present, preserve, interpret, proselytize and advocate on behalf of avant-garde art, especially forms that may be vulnerable due to institutional neglect, cultural bias, their ephemeral nature, or politically unpopular content. Franklin Furnace is dedicated to serving artists by providing both physical and virtual venues for the presentation of time-based art, including but not limited to artists’ books and periodicals, installation art, performance art, and unforeseen contemporary avant-garde artforms; and to undertake other activities related to these purposes. Franklin Furnace is committed to serving emerging artists; to assuming an aggressive pedagogical stance with regard to the value of avant-garde art to life; and to fostering artists’ zeal to broadcast ideas.

The Scottish Poetry Library is a non-profit, national resource and advocate for the art of poetry. Since its inception in 1984, it has become the place for poetry in Scotland, with an emphasis on contemporary poetry written in Scotland, in Scots, Gaelic and English. Historic Scottish poetry and contemporary works from almost every part of the world feature too, and the collections are constantly being added to.
